A couple of weeks ago I posted my heart button welcome project here on my blog and was inspired to make a cute little spring one in the same style. Well, my sister liked the spring one so much that I ended up giving it to her. What are sisters for, right? But, that left me one spring decoration down. Hmmm, dilemma. I have a couple of friends who might enjoy making some projects, so I set up a day and invited them over. Our little craft day lasted about 5 hours. (They always take longer than you think. Luckily we were having fun!) I love to see how each time any of my friends get together to craft, the results are different. So fun to be inspired by different points of view. I chose to keep my buttons on the pastel side, while my friends went with more intense colors. We all chose different base colors for the canvases and different ribbon placements. I decided to distress the bases of my egg topiaries and dyed them with walnut ink and wiped off the excess to give them a weathered look. Here is the original egg project that I was inspired by, from Pinterest, of course. One of my friends put colored polka dots and another put many many dots while I put mine farther apart. I also decided to add bakers twine in a celery green color to the bases of the topiaries. It was just a fun little set of projects. I ended up putting mine on my little mirror shelf next to my kitchen table and added a pitcher of faux flowers and a little bird I have from last spring. So, with these cuties plus my mantel being set, I just need to tackle the decorations for my bakers rack. (Wasn't going to even attempt that, but changed my mind...) Then the house will be prepped for the season. It is so fun to do this! Makes me happy to change things around in my house. Keeps me from getting bored and noticing that we need to repaint and clean carpets and get new drapes. I mean, shoot! The eggs do all the talking. At least visually. ;-)
